United Nations Appeal For Children Supported By Wanganui County

A decision to support the United Nations appeal for funds for the starving children of Europe was made at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui County Council. “It is up to us to get behind this appeal and do what lies in our power to make it a success,” said the chairman (Mr. A. H. Collins). “It is a very worthwhile appeal. There are millions of children in Europe who are living in semi-starvation and it is our duty to try and alleviate their distress in some way. I do not suppose there is anything which breeds Communism and unrest more surely than these hungry children and people. Along with other local bodies, it is up to us to organise through the area and see what we can do to get Contributions to this fund. ’

The council appointed the following conveners of committees and arranged that a meeting should be held in Wanganui on April 28:— Kaitoke.—No. 1 Line: CT. L. A. Mackintosh.
