SOVIET SAYS LITHUANIA PART OF RUSSIA

Recck. 8.40 p.m. Ottawa, April 8. The Soviet Embassy has advised the Canadian Government that Lithuania is part of the U.S.S.R. by the “sovereign will of the Lithuanian people."

In a Note published today the Soviet replied to the Canadian External Affairs Department statement last week that the Canadian Government had not recognised the absorption of Lithuania into the Soviet Union. The Department rebuked the Soviet Embassy for calling on Lithuanians in Canada to register with the Embassy. The department said the Embassy should have made it clear that registration would be voluntary.
