Richdale’s Rink Is Doing Well In The N. Island Tournament
A rink skipped by W. Richdale from the Gonville cfeb is doing well in the North Island bowling tournament post-section play in which commenced yesterday. Richdale’s team, together with IJowe’s four (Terrace End) topped the qualifiers, with eight wins. Yesterday they drew a bye in post-sec-tion play.
The Richdale team is the same as won the North Island tournament at New Plymouth two years ago, except that D. L. Blackie is playing three instead of A. Merriman The c>
two, in addition to the skip, are A- V. Martin and W. S. Corby. The Gonville four have all been playing well. Among the fours which qualified was G. Mason’s team from Taranaki, which won that centre’s fours tournament in February. Mason secured seven wins.
Other rinks remaining in after one round of section play include Mason (Vogeltown), Boulton (West End, New Plymouth), Velvtn Mana-
watu), Cogswell (Manawatu), Nottle (Oroua), Elder (National Service, Hastings). Reid (Lyall Bay), Dunn (Foxton), Carsten (Dannevirke), Nichol (Napier), Anderson (Terrace End), Exelby (Frankton Junction). One eliminated in section play today was A. Engebretsen Heretaunga) who twice won the national championships.
