Police Action Checks Communist Threat In Burma

(N.Z.P.A. —Copyright.) Recd. 11 p.m. Rangoon, March 29 The Government, by arresting 300 Communists yesterday, is believed to have stamped out the Communist threat, ' voiced at a public meeting on Saturday, to seise control of the country. The police seized large stores of arms in Rangoon. The Communist leader, Thakin Than Tun, and several of his lieutenants, escaped from Rangoon. It is believed they are ' heading for Pyinmana to attempt to reorganise the party.
