WEDDING

SMITH—NICHOLSON A very pretty wedding took place at Christ Church, Wanganui, on January 24. It was that of Lexa Maud, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Nicholson, Cumbrae Place, Aramoho, and Desmond Allan, only son of Mrs. W. Dwyer Castlecliff, and the late Mr. R. H. Smith, of Waverley. Blue hydrangeas, white gladioli and asparagus fern were beautifully arranged in the church for the ceremony. The Rev. N. C. K. Titchener officiated and Mr. J. Puryer was organist. The bride wore a graceful gown of white satin beaute fashioned in princess style with the new curved shoulder line finished with tiny flowers formed by mother-of-pearl tinted sequins. Her only ornament was a triple string of pearls. A spray of natural flowers held in place her tulle veil and the exquisite bouquet she carried was of white begonias, carnations, stephanotis and maidenhair fern. Mr. Nicholson gave his daughter in marriage. The sisters of the bride and bridegroom, Misses Patricia Nicholson and Carol Dwyer, were bridesmaids. They wore attractive frocks of blue nylon with full skirts and heart-shaped neckline. In their hair they wore flowers to match their bouquets of blue delphiniums and lemon begonias and gladioli.

Mr. Colin Allan Foster, of Auckland, was best man and Mr. Douglas Fountain acted as groomsman. Pastel-shaded flowers formed the decorations at the reception held at Dustin’s social room. To receive the guests, Mrs. Nicholson wore a pink suit with navy blue silk coat and accessories, and spray of pale pink and blue flowers. She was assisted by Mrs. Dwyer, who wore a Wedgwood blue frock with matching accessories and a spray of pink roses. For going away the bride chose a beaded Turquoise blue suit, beige coat and hat and accessories to match.*
