Tasman Yacht Race Progress
(P.A.) Auckland, Jan. 29. The Kurrewa 111, the leading boat in the Tasman Yacht Race reported at noon today that she was 533 miles from Sydney. The Peer Gynt and Wayfarer, the only other contestants contacted by the Kurrewa 111 were reported as 50 and 70 miles astern of the leader. The wind was easterly, and the seas moderate..
(P.A) Dunedin. Jan. 29. When the Dunedin-Invercargill express on December 26, left Mfion after a stop for refreshments, a passenger, Andrew James Lee, of Christchurch, was still engaged with his eup of tea. Seeing the train moving, lie abandoned what was left and raced after it, jumping aboard and finding a precarious perch on a coupling between the van and the wagon at the rear of the train.
