i Recd. 1 a.m. London, Jan. 18 ; Mr. Gandhi ended his fast ' after Indian leaders had given I an undertaking in writing to pledge their lives to see that the Nitven conditions he laid down lor communal peace in India are carried out, I The end ol th.- fast came when doctors had become most con1 corned about Gandhi’s health. They had had to give up giving him the hot water he had been taking. Gandhi was able later to take orange juice. News that th*, fast had ended brought intense punlic relief. There was a spirit of rejoicing in the capital.
