BEVIN FORMING VAST NEW MIDDLE EAST BLOC

Received 11 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 18 The signing of the Anglo-Iraq Treaty of Alliance was Mr. Ernest Bevin’s first move in the formation of a vast new “security” bloc in the Middle East to offset the Russian military bloc in the Balkans, says “The People’s” diplomatic correspondent. Turkey and Persia are shortly to be asked to join one of the Joint Defence Boards which are to be established following secret talks with the heads of all Middle East States.
