LONG HOLIDAYS FOR BUTCHERS’ SHOPS

WEDNESDAY TO MONDAY IN WELLINGTON (P.A.) Wellington, Jan. 16 All butchers' shops in Wellington will be closed from next Wednesday afternoon until the following Monday morning. The Wellington Master Butchers' Association has decided that as Thursday is Anniversary Day and as supplies will be difficult to obtain on the following day, Friday will also be observed as a holiday. The secretary of the association (Mr, W. J. Mountjoy) said today that by arrangement with the Butchers’ Assistants’ Union, both Thursday and Friday will be compulsory holidays under the award. No butchers’ shops will therefore be open.
