King No Longer The Emperor Of India

WORDING ON COINAGE TO BE CHANGED. (N.Z.P.A.—Copyright.) Recd. 6 p.m. London, Jan. 13. Now that the King is no longer Emperor of India the contractions of the Latin inscription “Indiae Impcrator" on British coins will disappear. An official of the Royal Mint said the remaining words of the inscription on the coinage would probably be rearranged so that fewer contractions would be used. The change cannot take place, however, until all the Dominion Parliaments signify approval.
