N.Z. Rugby League Team Beats France
Paris, Dec. 28. Fine handling by the New Zealand three-quarters with a muddy ball won the New Zealand Rugby League touring team its match against France by 11 points to 7, all scored, in the first half. The French forwards had the better of the scrummages but the French backs rarely got going, and when they did ’the New Zealanders’ keen tackling held them. The ground was heavy and there was a continuous drizzle. France opened the scoring with two successive penalty goals. Len Jordan replied with a try for New Zealand, and Forrest soon after scored another. Clarke converted a third try which McGregor scored between the posts after a fine run. France near the interval crossed the New Zealand line for the first and only time, when Gaston Galiw.e caught the defence off guard and broke through for a try.
