J. D. TIZARD UNBEATEN IN SECTION PLAY IN BOWLING TOURNAMENT

The feature of the sectional play in the Wanganui Bowling Association’s annual tourney which concluded yesterday was the performance of the St. John's four skipped by J. D. Tizard which won al! nine games. This team played outstanding bowling right through the sectional play in spite of having several close calls. Yesterday’s play was favoured by line weather and a lighter wind made play much more enjoyable. The greens were again in good condition and stood up well to the play. At the conclusion of the sixth round on Saturday, Tizard and C. H. Clinkard (Wanganui) had not suffered losses and there were four teams with only one loss. Tizard wbn all three games yesterday, but Clinkard was beaten by J. Healey in the eighth round. Healey had only one loss at the end of the sixth round and won all three matches yesterday. W. Burns (Wanganui East) had five wins up to Saturday and he won all three games yesterday. J. B. Jack (Wanganui) had suffered two losses on Saturday, but won all three matches yesterday to enter the post-sectional play. The personnel of the undefeated team is J. Peters, J. A. Baxter, C. S. Clinkard will meet on green two. The winners of these matches will later meet the winner of the match to be played at 11.30 a.m. between J. D. Tizard and F. McKessar. Wanganui East An all-day tournament will be held on the Wanganui East Bowling Club’s greens on New Year’s Day. Full rinks will be played according to the number of players attending.
