State Taking Over Auckland Cable Station
The New Zealand Post Office will take over the management of the cable terminal operated at Auckland by Cable and Wireless Limited as from January 1, states the Post-master-General, Mr. Hackett. The present staffing arrangements will continue undisturbed Mr. Hackett explained that this was a preliminary to full ownership of the terminal and asociated equipment being asumed by the Post Office. This step was in accordance with proposals concerning the transfer- to public ownership of Cable and Wireless Limited, which were tabled in Parliament on October 11. The purchase would be completed when further progress had been made in discussions about the purchase price and other- relevant nxattei-s.
