24,320 HAVE BEEN MADE AVAILABLE <P A.) Wellington Dec. 25 From the inception of the Government’s present housing scheme up to November 30, 24,320 new State tenancies have been made available to applicants in both the civilian and exservicemen’s categories, the “Minister in Charge of Housing, Mr. Hackett, announced. Applications to November 30, totalled 45,174, he said, 14,715 being from ex-servicemen in the preference category, and 39,459 being in the civilian classification. During November the total number of houses let or re-let throughout the Dominion was 294, and of these 138 were granted to applicants eligible for ex-servicemen preference. In the same month 894 applications for State tenancies were lodged.
