RESIGNATION OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CONGRESS COMMITTEE
New Delhi, The president of the All India Congress Committee, Acharyi J. B. Kripalani, has resigned. Informed quarters said the reason was that he considered there was a lack of harmonious co-operation between the Congress Working Committee and the Central Cabinet. Kripalani, presenting his resignation to the Congress Committee, said he was not taken into full confidence on important matters affecting the nation. He declared that the only way to avoid war between India and Pakistan was to make India strong. Many sanctions short of war could be used to help Pakistan see the advantage of amicable relations. Friction caused by the problems of minorities and the problems of Kashmir, Hyderabad and Jungadh, unless eliminated or wisely controlled, might develop into war.
