Croquet Tournament Will Continue To-day With Championships
Fine weather favoured the Wanganui Croquet Association when its annual championship and handicap tournament was advanced a further stage on the St. John’s Croquet Club's greens yesterday. Some close games were witnessed and croquet of a high standard was provided. This morning a start will be made with the open and doubles championshin events at 9 a.m. Yesterday's results were as follow: HANDICAP SINGLES Section 1: Mrs Phillips beat Mrs Webber, 26-7; Mrs McDougal beat Mrs Webber, 26-22. Section 2: Mrs Brass beat Mrs McCallum, 26-12; Mrs Stewart beat Mrs Marsh, 26-15; Mrs Ogier beat Mrs Stewart, 26-10. Section 3: Mrs Lockett heat W. E. Wilson, 26-20; Mrs Downey beat Mrs Baddelev, 26-23: W. E. Wilson beat Mrs Baddeley, 26-15; Mrs Lockett beat Mrs Kerr. 26-23. Section 4: Mrs Harris heat Mrs Casey. 26-17; Mrs Harris beat Mrs Hampton, 26-18; Mrs McClymont beat Mrs Stevens, 26-11. HANDICAP DOUBLES Mesdames Drummond and Bamber beat Mesdames R.
