OBITUARY
.MRS. A. C. ROGERS. The death occurred recently at Taihape at the age of ol an old and highly respected resident of the district.—Mrs. Alice Catherine Rogers, widow of the late Frank Galbraith Rogers, who predeceased her 4 A years ago. The late Mrs. Rogers was born at Waikiwi, near Invercargill. Her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Moore, came of two old North of Ireland families, the Moores of "The Barn” in County Tyrone and the Hamiltons of “Lakemount,” and arrived at Dunedin on New Year’s Day, 1862, in the sailing ship Pladda. After her marriage at Invercargill, in 1907, by the Rev. William Swinburn, she and her husband came north to farm in Hawke’s Bay until 1913, when they moved to Kocko near Taihape. They retired from farming some nine years ago, to reside in Taihape. Mrs. Rogers was well known among her many friends for her kindly nature and keen sense of humour, and though handicapped in later years with failing sight, she did not allow this to daunt her independent spirit. She is survived by her only son and two granddaughters, who reside at Te Kuiti.
