Labelling Of Goods With Wool Content Wanted By Farmers
“That in the Interests of the nation’s health and in the interests of primary producers, the Government and the New Zealand Wool Board be requested to introduce locally and advocate internationally the labelling of all material with the percentage of wool, silk, cotton and fibre content" was the text of a remit from the Waverley branch received at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Provincial Executive of Federated Farmers.
The remit was sent to the Waverley branch by the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers.
“This is a matter which does not require any discussion," said the chairman (Mr. H. J. Donnelly)
Mr. W. J. Tripe said that while he agreed with the sentiment of the remit he thought that as it was worded it might lead to some confusion He suggested that the wording should be amended to read “wool and other fibres."
In its amended form, the remit was carried.
