Nomads Cricket Team Plays Drawn Game With Collegiate School

Played in perfect weather on the Collegiate School ground yesterday the one-day cricket match between Nomads arid the first eleven of the Wanganui Collegiate School ended in a draw.

Having first use of the wicket Nomads compiled 247 for the loss of five wickets. Highlight of the innings was the attractive batting of 11. B. Cave, who scored 111 not out. He hit two sixers and 15 fours. Hrs runs were collected mostly with on and off drives which had power behind them. Cave's total took 132 minutes to register.

Next, highest scorer was J. A. Ongley, who played a fine innings for a well deserved 71. Many of his cover drives were a treat to watch and his total was compiled in 81 minutes. He hit. ten fours. Ongley was caught by Robertshawe in the deep field off slow bowler Gower. Two batsmen. D. E, Collins and F. W. Gilligan retired after scoring 23 and 14 respectively. Wotton, right-hand medium paced bowler, captured three wickets for 49. Gow was the next best trundler, collecting two for 67. Randell and Hunt gave Collegiate School a spirited start by adding 39 for the second wicket. After Randell had been caught by Roberts off Cave's ■bowling. Clayton joined Hunt and the pair added 46 for the third wicket. Hunt was bowled by Ca' e after collecting 41 runs. Hanna was stumped by F. W. Gilligan off D. C. Collins’ bowling before he got his eye in. Wotton and Middleton held the bowling till stumps, when School had compiled 141 for the loss of five wickets. H. B.
