Cardinal Gilroy, Archbishop of Sydney, assured the audience that he at any rate succeeded in coming away from Dunedin in complete possession of his Cardinal's hat. Mr. Fraser must have had in mind the disappearance of his Homberg in Dunedin when he revealed a wartime secret. He recalled attending a meeting of the T. G. Macarthy Trust, under the chairmanship of the Gover-nor-General, when ho had to depart in a hurry for an important meeting at Parliament House. He did notice, said the Prime Minister. a look of astonishment, or, the face of his chauffeur and similar looks when he entered Parliament Buildings. Soon after he received a telephone call asking him to return the hat and coat belonging to the Archbishop of Wellington, the most Rev. Thomas O’Shea. Cardinal Gilroy remarked that it seemed a pity that the Prime Minister was not able to keep the Archbishop’s hat. A Prime Minister in an Archbishop’s hat was not to be seen every day\
