SCHOOL JUBILEE TO BE ASSISTED (O.C.> Hunterville. Oct. 14. “The diamond jubilee o( the Hunterville School will be a red letter day for the town and I think the board should give the committee every possible encouragement.” snid the chairman of the Hunterville Town Board (Mr. K. A .Gordon.' at last night's monthly meeting. Other members agreed that the committee were deserving of any assistance the board could give and it was unanimously decided to give free use of th? Town Hall nnd any other public facilities for the celebrations. The Nonparent Bakeries wore granted the hire of Town Hall crockery for the school jubilee celebrations. "This is surely an occasion when we can waice any rules In connection with the hire of crockery.” said the chairman. Water connections were granted to properties on Ongo Read belonging to Mr. C. Bird and Mr. A. Kent. The matter of a sewerage connection to the Anglican Parish Hall was left in the hands of the works committee with power to act. The Rangltikei County Council was accorded a vote of th inks for Its offer to assist in placing Kotukutuku Road in order. Gordon. M.!'.. wrote assuring the board that he would give every assistance towards getting the Slate houses erected in Hunterville. He asked for certain other information which is to be provided. In a written report Cr. Crichton gave details of a local body conference <nt which he had represented the board» held in Wanganui in connection with tho Food for Britain Campaign. Cr. Crichton said ho had assured the conference that Hunterville would do its full share. Cr. Crichton was oceorded a vote <»f tnanks for his report and it was decided to call i public meeting Io further lhe scheme when further information comes to hand. The foreman reported on work carried o\n during the month, the report being adopted and recommendations approved. The balance sheet was received back from audit without “tag" and the clerk (Mr. C. N. Wallis' was congratulated on his work. The clerk was giv *n full authority to deal with "hawkers" who bad not taken out licenses and with dog owners who had not registered their dogs. The Main Highways Board Is to be asked to improve the pedes-trlaii access to the town on Porewa Road. The usual annual collection of rubbish on the day following Labour Day is to be organised. details being left in the hands of ine The meeting was presided over by ('r. R. A. Gordon and there were also present Crs. J. Hallwood. A. H. Sutton. H. W. Dillon. J. Dickie, and E. W. Donovan. An apology for absence was received from Cr. G. S. Crichton.
