GENERAL BUSINESS AND REVIEW OF WORK

(0.C.) Bulls, Oct. 11. The monthly meeting of the Bulls Town Board was held on Thursday night when there were present the chairman (Cmr. R. Mackay) and Crnrs. F. A. Holland. D. Westwood, D. M. O’Connell, F. Ellery and W. Kearney. Foreman’s Report. The foreman's report detailing maintenance work in the town on roads and footpaths and public utilities was placed before the board. It was mentioned that someone had stolen plants freshly put out in the plots at the memorial gretfn. He said that the condition of the road leading to the domain was commented on by Mr. S. A. R. Mair, who was preparing a scheme f• »r improving the hill and entrance cornel’. Mr. Mair had been in Bulls that day making a survey of the footpaths which he said were perished. Cmr. O'Connell suggested attending to drains and replacing broken culverts as soon as possible and the hoard agreed to secure concrete pipes. Cmr. Eliery and Westwood advocated laying a boulder in Bull Street to meet the request ot petitioners from that locality. Cmr. Holland advocated putting another pipe drain under the roau and tilling in the dangerous drain running parallel with the road. This was agreed to by the board and the ioreman was instructed accordingly. Cmr. Westwood was deputed to make an arrangement lor the disposal o£ trees fallen down on the domain. The Bulls Cricket Club and the BullsOhakea Sports Club thanked the board lor the use uf the Domain during the past season. tin tlie motion of Crnrs. For the benefit of the residents the chairman listed the accomplishments ox me board since ihey took oilice as under: Rest room grounds put in iawn, cnlaigement ox projection area and renovation ux the town hall, Domain put in order with improvements in i L’cmties, remetalled and regraded all side streets, town hail irontage resurfaced, housing Department approached to provide more blate houses, secuied continuous telephone service from Government, water courses all opened and drained, purchase of property to give belter access to the Domain, obtaining report from engineers tor lootpath and walescheme lor town, additional lighting for the tovvn, bus stop and shelter tor passenger’s, lootpath around monument improved anu six cnains of new lootpath built. The chairman spoke of the difficulty experienced in finding a section for the election of a house lor the doctor.' To meet the urgent need the board agteed to make a .section fronting un High Street available to the medical committee (subject to a water casement) for £lOO. Health Stamps. The matter of erecting a hus shelter which had been held over until the permanency of lhe present bus berthages had been decided upon occupied the attention of the board, and members agreed that it was desirable to have same set up off the road in the vacant section belonging to lhe Bank of New Zealand if the latter was in agreement. “Now tlat the Government owns the bank," observed one commissioner, “that should not be any trouble.”
