BALMAIN (SYDNEY) BEATS MT. ALBERT

(P.A.) Auckland, Oct. 5. The speed of the Balmain Rugby League teams backs was the decisive feature of the game in which the Sydney champion team defeated Mount Albert, Auckland champion team by 16 points to 11 on Saturday afternoon. Mount Albert players failed to tackle effectively on defence, and this failing allowed the Balmain backs to show their ability to its fullest advantage before a large crowd. The star of the match was the 19-year-old Baimain wing three quarter, R. Lulham, who scored three tries, in spite of an injury received early in the game. Lulham gave an outstanding display of fast determined running. His ability to prop with either foot while running at speed made him most elusive. Lulham (3: and Spencer, scored tries for Balmain, one of which was converted by Jorgenson, who also kicked a penalty goal. For Mount Albert, Nurse, Austin, and R. Craned, scored tries. A. Kay converting one.
