N.Z. Badge Included on Royal Wedding Cake

London, Oct. 4. The badges of New Zealand, Australia, Canada, South Africa, India and Pakistan will be on the fourth tier of Princess Elizabeth’s four-tier wedding cake, says the Bakers National Association Review. The first tier will carry a representation of the bride and groom, Windsor and Balmoral Castles and Buckingham Palace. The second tier will depict the casket which the Freemen of Windsor presented the Princess as Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadier Guards, also the night battle scenes of Cape Matapan, musical emblems and decorations illustrating tennis, cricket and racing. The third tier will have faces showing the Royal Navy crest, A.T.S. and the Girl Guides badges, and a model of H.M.S. Valiant in which Lt. Mountbatten served at Matapan; also a figure of cupid holding a shield on which will be the bride and groom’s initials. A globe bearing the names of all the British Commonwealth countries wilj be set on top of the cake with a vase of flowers surmounting it The cake, to meet austerity conditions, has been considerably reduced in size and weight from the original design. All the ingredients come from the Dominions and other Empire countries.
