State Departments to Have Prefabricated Buildings

(P.A.' Wellington, Oct. 6. One hundred and fifty prefabricated buildings bought from America under lendlease have been allocated to the Education and other Government departments to help relfeve their accommodation problems. None of the buildings is available to the public. Made up of steel hospital and task force buildings, the “prefabs” were bought by the War Assets Realisation Board as they stood a various Pacific stations. They were dismantled in the islands and shipped to New Zealand, where they have been stored for some time on Aotea Quay. The board is now getting the buildings ready for removal. They are being assembled and missing parts are being manufactured to enable their speedy erection. Many have already been sent out to their new sites.
