LAST MATCHES OF SEASON An all-round superiority enabled Kaierau seniors to have a comfortable victory over the visiting Tolaga Bay Rugby side by 14 points to five in the main match on Spriggens Park on Saturday. Kaierau led 11-0 at half-time but the game was closer than the score suggests, being open and enterprising. In the first spell, Dunean kicked a penalty for 'the maroons, Dunbar scored an unconverted try, and- Cartright scored a try which was converted by Duncan. Play was even in the second half and it was not until ten minutes before full time that further points arrived, Stubbings touching down lor the visitors for C. Nelson to convert. Right on time, a Kaierau back move saw I. Whale score under the posts and Baileys kick strike the upright. Final scos«: Kaierau 14, Tolaga Bay Mr. N. Neilson was the referee. PIRATES DEFEATED Holding a 6-3 lead at half-time, Old Boys (senior champions of Palmerston North Jeventually beat Pirates by 9 points to 6 in the curtain-raiser on Spriggens Park. The match, a very hard tussle, kept reasonably open, was for the Licensed Victuallers Cup. Webb and Graham scored unconverted tries for the visitors and Laing kicked a penalty. Pirates points came from unconverted tries by Anderson and Daley. The referee was Mr. J. Ross.
