OTAKI SPRING MEETING TO CONCLUDE

RURE NEKITINI STAKES AS FEATURE EVENT Fields carded for today at the concluding day of the Otaki Maori Racing Club’s spring meeting are of dimensions similar to those seen out on Saturday last, and keen contests appear likely. With rain during the week track conditions may not be as ideal as they were on the opening day, but the track should not be bad. Feature event to'day is the Rere Nekitini Memorial Stakes, and in spite of the absence of the Ling Memorial winner, Beau le Havre, and the two horses who filled the minor dividendpaying places, Rosswood and Imperial, there is a useful field of sixteen carded, as against the dozen seen out a week ago. Gay Stroller should show improvement as a result of his race at Marton, but Sakuntala should make a stronger appeal, as she was rather unlucky to be beaten at Marton. Tremello should run well, and Ngakoti’s win at the Wanganui meeting should ensure support for this Awapuni candidate. Shellwyn. Dunbar, Silver Pal, Foxella and Silver Rod are capable ot extending the more favoured division. There are also some newcomers in the open sprint, the Waiorongomai Handicap, though fiist-day form should be a reliable guide in the ab-« sence of Zealander, surprise winner last Saturday. Other fields have filled well, and the Manuao Trial Plate has been divided to form two separate races. The following may appeal:— Puketoi Hack Hurdles.—Moutoa Lord, Duality, Kahuraponga. Manuao Trial Plate No. 1. Flying Faye, Beaulitha, Lady Barrington. Pukekaraka Hack Handicap. Celebration, Tahli, Brigg Fair. Rere Nikitini Memorial. Sakuntala, Ngakoti, Tremello. Manuao Trial Plate No. 2.— Gay Stitches, Beguile, Legendre. Otaki Hack Handicap. Belle Anita, Idle Along, Blue Hussar. Waiorongomai Handicap. Omit, Specialist, Aiderman. Rahui Hack Handicap. Morotat, Middoon, Te Ranui. Following are the acceptors:—
