RETROSPECTIVE PAY FOR FARM WORKERS
Farmers Should Wait An Order Before Paying (P.A.) Wellington, Oct. 3 The question- of the payment of retrospective increases from November 1, 1946, in dairy farm workers wages, was referred to Mr. W. N. Perry, Dominion president of Federated Farmers, Mr. Perry said that the Dairy Products Marketing Commission decided to refer this matter, together with the question of rates of wages necessitated by the increase in labour reward incorporated in the new price, to the Minister of Labour. The Minister had been approached and an early meeting of the interested parties is hoped for, when the matter will he fully discussed and a decision probably arrived at.
Farmers should note, said Mr. Perry, that until an order has been gazetted they should not make any retrospective adjustments in wages to November 1. 1946.
