WORLD-WIDE POLICE RADIO NETWORK

DRIVE AGAINST CRIME DOMINIONS ASKED TO JOIN (N. Z. P. A. —R outer—Copyright.) Recd. 10.5 p.m. London, Oct. 3 A world-wide radio network, including the Dominions, will be established as part of an international drive against criminals, if plans disclosed by Scotland Yard are carried out. The International Criminal Police Commission, which was revived last year, with continental headquarters in Paris, can already communicate by radio with a majority of continental countries. British headquarters are at Scotland Yard, and it is proposed that the Dominions should enter an arrangement under which Britain has established direct radio communication with Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, France, Yugoslavia, Greece, Holland, Italy, Luxemburg, Norway, Portugal and Sweden.

Within a few weeks a radio link will be established with Washington through the Paris headuarters. Russia, so far, has not shown any inclination tc take part. The “Daily Telegraph.” commenting on the international plan, says arrangements are being made for a common radio wave-length for international police forces. When completed it will be possible to circulate a message throughout the world in a few minutes. A squad of linguists' will work in Scotland Yard’s information room to translate the messages sent from abroad for circulation to British police.
