WANGANUI SOCCER WILL END THE SEASON ON SATURDAY

(By “Waverley”) Playing bright, attractive football, Tech. Old Boys defeated Wellington Tech. Old Boys by 7 goals to 3 last, Saturday. The local team gave one of its best displays of th e season and was superior to the visitors in all departments of the game. This week-end Marist, the Wellington senior division champions, are due in Wanganui to play Tech. Old Boys. This game is set down for Victoria Park and should prove to be one of the most interesting matches this season. When Marist visited Wanganui last season they met and were defeated by a Wanganui representative team, the local team winning by the odd goal in three. No doubt Tech. Old Boys will b e keen to repeat the representative team’s performance. Another visiting team to the city will be St. Andrew's (Palmerston North), who are to play Athletic. This gam e has also been set down for Victoria Park and will no doubt be a curtain-raiser to the Tech. Old Boys and Marist match.

Saturday’s matches will end the season, and the Wanganui Association is to be congratulated on the high standard shown, particularly by the representative side, which has been undefeated this season. In representative matches the Wanganui team scored 18 goals in four matches and the defence yielded only four goals.
