COURT CRIER DIED WITH BROKEN BACK

It transpires that a broken back was the cause of the death of Cour:. Crier on the Wanganui track on Saturday morning.

J. Green, wno trained Court Crier for Messrs Letica and J. Vodanovich, was riding the Solicitor General gelding in a training gallop at the time. After going a couple of furlongs Green felt the horse falter ana suddenly collapse. Examination of the

carcase later revealed that the vertebrae had been extensively fractured. Several months ago Green had tne misfortune to lose Dutch Orator in an accident which occurred during that horse’s first work-out. It was particularly unfortunate that he has lost the services of Court Crier, for whom a good price had recently been obtainable. Court Crier appeared likely to win for his new owners at an early date, judging by his initial display at Wanganui.
