Drilling for Oil in Palestine

Recd. 8 p.m. Jerusalem, Sept. 27. Drilling for oil started for the fl£st time in Palestine yesterday, at a point 15 miles south of Gaza, and two miles inland. The prospects are considered sound. The company sinking the shaft is the Petroleum Development (Palestine) Limited, affiliated to the Iraq Petroleum Company. The staff is predominantly British, but there are also a few French and Americans engaged in the operation.
