WANGANUI VISIT OF FREIGHT PLANE NOW CANCELLED
(0.C.) New Plymouth, Aug. 5. The Bristol Freighter aircraft Merchant Venturer, which was to have called at Wanganui to-morrow en route from Palmerston North, will not now do so. It was originally intended that the aircraft should leave Palmerston North for New Plymouth early in the morning, calling at Wanganui and Stratford, but these arrangements have been cancelled because of the softness of the landing grounds at these two places and the heaviness of the aircraft. Alterations to the original schedule have also been necessitated because the aircraft was engaged for a day longer on the Cook Strait service than was at first intended and because the machine will be under test to the New Zealand National Airways Corporation to-day for singleengine performance and stalling with full load.
