LONDON CINEMAS TO BE EQUIPPED

London, July 25 At least five West End cinemas will be equipped with television to show televised sporting events and items from the Rank research studios, said Mr. J. Arthur Rank, the British film chief, today. One of Mr. Rank s producers claimed that the clarity and brilliance of television was 80 per cent, as effective as film.

Mr. Rank said he believed Britain could make 15,000,000 dollars from the exhibition of British films in America in 1948. but if the Chancellor of the Exchequer imposed additional taxation on American films there was a risk that Britain would lose the goodwill she was slowly gaining in the United States.
