WANGANUI ARTS AND CRAFTS SOCIETY

THE 46th ANNUAL MEETING The Wanganui Arts and Crafts Society held its 46th annual meeting last evening in the League for the Hard of Hearing Rooms, McGruer’s Building?.. Mr. T. L. Sperrlng occupied the chair.

In his presidential address Mr. Sperring said that the society had made a progressive forward move during last year. Finances had improved, membership had increased, the number of pictures in the exhibition had attained to a record, and public attendances were greater. Sales of pictures were the second highest on record.

The following officers were re-elect-ed:—President, Mr. T. L. Sperying; vice-presidents, Messrs F. W. Gilligan, Gordon Mcßeth and W. M. Barraud; committee, Mesdamcs Doust and Pearce, Messrs D. R. Blight T. Holloway and R. A. Westwood; honorary secretary. Mr. W. O. D. Ry all. Mr C. L. Duigan was unanimously elected a life member of the society in recognition of the excellent contributions to the society’s well-being over the years. The incoming committee was directed to make arrangements for the formation of a Sketch Group of the society’s active members and provide a studio for them. The date of the society’s exhibition was fully discussed bv members, the matter being left to the discretion or the committee.
