Mr. C. L. Duigan was unanimously elected a life member of the Wanganui Arts and Crafts Society at Its annual meeting last night.

Mr. A. P. Howard, who had been granted leave of absence because of illness, was welcomed back to the Rangitikei Catchment Board at the monthly meeting yesterday.

Mr. Ronald McDonald has been appointed a director of the Linen Flax Corporation of New Zealand, representing the manufacturers using hnen flax fibre as raw material, for the term expiring April 18, 1948, in place of Mr H. F. Sincock, who has resigned. according to a Gazette notice last night.

Mr. R. W. G. Janson, of the Forestry Department. Palmerston North, who has been appointed as a Government member of the Rangitikei Catchment Board, was welcomed by the chairman. Mr. K. A. Williams, at the monthly meeting yesterday. He has succeeded Mr. F. j. Ranger, who has been transferred to the South Island.

Messrs. G. W. Sampson, resident engineer of the Works Department, Wanganui. A. R. Dlngwell, Department of Agriculture. Wanganui, and T. S. Roe, chief surveyor. Lands and Survey Department. Wellington, ami Dr. 1,. I. Grange. Soil Survey Division. Department of Scientific and Industrial Trial Research, Wellington, have been re-appointed as Government members of the Rangitikei Catchment Board.

Mr. A. J Burt*, who has been produce manager of the Wanganui branch of the New Zealand Fanners' Distributing Co.. Ltd., and lias retired from that position after 25 j ears' service, was met by several clients of the firm on Wednesday, ami good wishes for a happy retirement were expressed. A presentation of a cheque was made and several speakers testified to the vast amount of help and guidance they had invariably received from Mr. Burtt during his long association with the firm.
