Wanganui Women’s Bowling Club Holds Annual Meeting
The annual meeting o£ the Wanganui Women’s Bowling Club was held on July 12, there being a good attendance of members. The club’s finances are in a very satisfactory condition, as shown bv the balance-sheet. The president, Airs. Dennison, presented her report for the season, reference being made to the excellent condition of the green, due to the working bees. Thanks arc due to Mr. Pepper for his services as green superintendent. Mr. Pluck as greenkeeper, also Mr. Bamford, as auditor. The club also tenders its thanks to the men who helped with the topdressing. The club was formed in the 1940-41 season with seven members. Tiie membership lias now increased to 45. Several new members were elected.
Club competition winners for 194647 were: Club fours, Mrs. Ward, Miss Johnson, Miss O'Connor, Mrs. Joyce (skip). A singles, Mrs. Dempster. B singles, Mrs Edwards. A pairs, Miss Marshall and Mrs. Dempster (skip). B pails, Mrs. Ward and Miss Johnson (skip). Handicap singles, Mrs. Purnell. Most improved players, Mesdames Takarangi and Edwards. The club took part in all Centre tournaments, winning the full rinks (Mdsdames Joyce, Dennison, Pluck and Dempster, skip). The club also won the champion of champion pairs (Mesdames Ward and Joyce, skip), and also holds the "Melville Cup" and "Verry Banner.” Hie following officers were elected for the coming season:—President, Mrs Dennison (re-elected); vice-presi-Mrs Hawkins; hon. secretary, Mrs. Dempster (re-elected); committee, Mesdames Pluck, Slight, Raine, Holloway. Gillum, Misses Johnson, O’Connor; selectors, Mesdames Gaunt, Hawkins, Farr; delegates to centre, Mesdames Dennison and Raine; auditor, Mr. Bamford.
