Earned Place Money Three Days But Failed to Win
Lnlueky m three essays each at the Wellington Hating (.'lull’s winter meeting, both \ alley Boy and Citation can be accounted lhe unlucky horses nt the fixture. Each was placed in three starts and these six platings resulted in the pair earning £1475 between them, Citation being responsible for £750 and Valley Boy £725. A alley Boy was third in lhe Whyte Handicap on the opening day, second in the Parliamentary Handicap and third in the Winter Oats. Messrs. D. and R. Douglas, of Morrinsville, who race Valley Boy, were rewarded when Lynn Vaals, who carries their colours, won the Onslow Handicap on the final day. Citation was second in the Whyte Handicap, third in the Members’ Handicap on the middle day, and second, beaten half a head by Longsword. in the. Winter Oats. Either of the pair would have been assured of a great reception had Fate been kinder on Saturday last.
