PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given as required by Section 54 of the Rating Act, 1925, that the Raetihi Borough Council in pursuance of its powers under sections 77, 84, 89. 92. 95 and 96 of the Muriicipal Corporation Act. 1933, Section 52 of the Hospitals and 'Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, and of all other powers and authorities enabling it, in that behalf intends on the 31st day of July, 1947, to make and levy the following rates for the | year commencing on the Ist day of April 1947 and ending on the 31st day of March 1948. On the Unimproved Value of all i rateable property, in the Borough of Raetihi. 1. A Consolidated Rate of one shilling and nine pence (1/9) in the £ such rate comprising a General Rate of one shilling and five pence halfpenny (l/5Jd) and a Lighting Rate of three pence half-penny (31d). 2. A Library Rate of one penny (Id) in the £. ■3. A Special Rate under the provisions of tire Raetihi Borough Council Loans Conversion Order | 1935 of two shillings (2/-) in the £. 4. Water Rates and Charges: Irrespective of the Ordinary Supply:— (a) On a’l lands and dwelling houses to which water is supplied a rate of one shilling and one penny (1/ld) in the £ (with a minimum of 10/-). (b) On all lands and dwelling houses to which water can be but is not supplied and on buildings other than dwelling houses, a rate of six pence half-penny (6id) in the £ (with a minimum of 5/-). (c) Extra-Ord-inary Water Charges made in accordance with the Borough ByLaws. 5. On lhe Unimproved Value of all I rateable property in the Special Rating Areas in the Borough of Raetihi:—(a) Special Area No. 2: A Special Rate of Three-fartb’ngs (W in the £. (b) Special Area No. 3: A Special Rate of two pence (2d) in the £. (c) Special Area No. 4: A Special Rate of three-fart hI ings (2d) in the £. (d) Special I Area—Ameku Road: A Special Rate of four pence ha’f-penny (4Jd) in the £. 6. On the Capital Value of all rateable property in the Borough of Raetihi: A separate Hospital Rate of five-eighths pence (Sd.) in the £. The rates shall be payable in each case in one sum on Friday, the 15th day of August, 1947, at the Borough ' Council Office, Duncan Street, Raetil ! A Rebate of 5% of the total rates due for the year will be allowed if payment is made on or before the 15th | day of September, 1947. The Estimates upon which the I above mentioned rates and charges • have been struck have been approvcd I by the Council, are together with the Valuation Ro’l open for inspection at the Town Clerk’s Office, Borough Chambers, Duncan Street, Raetihi, during office hours.
