Many Top-line Golfers Will Play in Wanganui at Week-end

The best golfers from Wanganui, Wellington, Taranaki and Manawatu, will be playing at Belmont next weekend. Visitors who have not been to Belmont since before the war, will be particularly struck with the natural beauty of the course now that the trees planted 10 to 15 years ago have become established plantations. Not only do these plantations add to the attractiveness of one of the best goli courses in the country, but they also piovide some shelter from the prevailing westerly winds which so often sweep across the course from the sea to trouble the harassed golfers Several new greens are now in use and the ninth fairway, Lands End, has been widened and a championship tee set back about 40 yards into the trees, making this an excellent par four .ole. A small charge for admission is be.ig made to go towards defraying the xpenses of the. visiting teams. A large gallery is expected and visitors are advised that only players, caddies and club members will be able to obtain luncheon at the clubhouse.
