THE MAYORALTY MR. E. LOADER TO STAND ' FOR FURTHER TERM (0.C.) Taihape, July 14. Al the request of several prominent Taihape citizens the Mayor (Mr. E. Loader i wilt again offer nimself as a candica'-e for tne mayoralty at the municipal elections to be lield next November. since arriving in Taihape frotnjsngland in 1910, Mr. Loader has taken a mil share in the public lile of the community. For 2/ years he has been associated with the Taihape Boroug'h Council. For 14 years of tnat total ne was deputy Mayor, and he has served the last five years as Mayor. For. 25 years lie was associated with the Taihape School Committee, the last 10 years of tnat period as chairman. Au enthusiastic bandsman in his younger days Mr. Loader was a member ol tlie now defunct Taihape Brass Band fur 12 years. in audition, he is a former chairman of tlie Taihape Chamber of Commerce. During the war period Mr. Loader was an indelatigable worker in patriotic efforts in the town and district. Two sons served in the Royal NewZealand Air Force on active se'rvicc. The first Mayor of Taihape was the rate Mr. A. Nathan. Then lollowcd in succession Messrs W. McLennan, C. Cunningham, A. J. Joblin (two terms*, J. P. Aldridge and the late Mr. W. 11. De Latour. RUGBY TEAMS CHOSEN. The following junior and third grade teams have been selected to represent Taihape Rugby Sub-Union in matches on Saturday. The junior side will play Rangitikei juniors in Taihape, and the third grade tea/, will meet Ruapehu thirds at Ohakune: Juniors: Full-back, Cox; threequarters, O'Keefe, Jensen, Haddon; five-eighths, S. Sinclair, Naylor: haltback, Brown; back of scrum. Maher; middle row, R. Sinclair, Arthur, Cassells, McMahon; front row, How den, Wi Paki, Davis. Reserves: Hamilton and Carrington, forwards; Steedman and Rolley, backs. Third Grade: Fuli-back. Caulcutt; three-quarters, McSweeney, Potaka, Hall; live-eighths, Knowles and Jensen; half-back, Sinclair; back of scrum, Jenkins; middle rom, L. Wilson, Martin. Andrews. H. Brogden; front row, B. Gibbs, Horton, L. Simpson. Reserves: Parker, Wong, and Howden, forwards; W. Paki and Drysdale, backs. Tne team will leave by Gower’s bus from the Post Office at 10 a.m. on day of match. DRINK IN RAILWAY CARRIAGE Charged with being drunk in a railway carriage, Jack Leslie was lined £5 in the Taihape Magistrate’s Court. The offence was described by Sergeant A. Doel as more serious than an ordinary charge of drunkenness, and the Government Railway Act allowed for a heavier penalty to be imposed in such eases. Mr- E. Loader, J.P., and Mr. A. McCallman, J.P., were on the Bench. UTIKU W.D.FJF. Reporting to the monthly meeting of the Utiku branch of the Woen.’n'e Division of Federated Farmers, Mrs. A. Jones said that two more food parcels had been sent to England. Acknowledgments from two previous recipients of food parcels were read to the meeting and these expressed deep appreciation of the thoughtfulness of the branch in remembering the people of Britain in their need for extra food.

Mrs. Dickinson reported having despatched the C.0.R.5.0. a box of woollen clothing donated by members. The treasurer's report was read by Mrs J. Moore, and the hospital visitors’ report by Mrs. A. Beuck. Both were adopted. Remits to be forwarded to the annual conference in Wellington were given close consideration and approved of.

Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames C. H. Transom and Thurston. Hostesses for next month will be Mesdames G. M. Transom and Wilsey PERSONAL.

Mr. W. B. Carlick, secretary of the Taihape branch of the National Party, is an inmate of the Wanganui Public Hospital.
