TESTS SHOULD BE MADE IN TESTING STATIONS (P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., July 3. Speaking in the Address-in-Reply debate in the House of Representatives to-day, Mr. J. B. F. Cotterill (Govt., Wanganui), discussing the recent increase in road accidents, said the Government should insist that all testing for warrants of fitness of motor vehicles was don e in the central testing stations in every urban area throughout New Zealand, either under the control of a local body or of the Transport Department. Mr. Cotterill said it appeared that some garages were not taking the testing for certificates of fitness seriously. but were more interested in collecting the half-crown. Mr. Cotterill said il would be advisable for the Transport Department to takeover all traffic control in Ihe urban areas in (he interests of uniformity.
