RICE BEATS BELL (P.A.) Auckland, May 5. A professional wrestling contest between Tom Rice and Kay Bell, of America, resulted in a win for Rice by two falls to one. There was plenty of action and a fair amount of showmanship during i the match, which ended in the sixth round, when Bell fell backward to the mat and Rice gained the deciding fall. Rice took the first fall in the fourth round after his opponent had thrown him three times with headlocks. Rice fell on him and pinned his shoulders to the mat. Bell had his opponent troubled with a surfboard hold in the fifth round; then, following a series of elbow jolts by both contestants. Bell introduced a * couple of drop-kicks and evened the I falls with a body press. KUSS BEATS HENRY AT DUNEDIN (P.). Dunedin, May 5. The wrestling season opened at the Town Hall to-night before a good attendance, with a bright match between Otto Kuss (17.4) and Jim Henry (18.3), which was marked by 1 some clever wrestling, a good deal of ! showmanship, and, towards the finish, I some rough-house exchanges. Kuss obtained the only fall of the match in ■ the sixth round, following a series of j flying head scissors.
