The newly-formed Te Kawau Hockey Club is away to an early start and the first practice was held on Wednesday last. It is evident that with the enthusiasm being shown and the material available a good combination will be placed in the field by the time competition matches commence. Practices are being held every Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, and until such time as the park ground is ready for play, these will be held on the school ground. Representatives of the Sanson-Oha-kea R.S.A. branch report that at the recent meeting of the parent body, a grant of 150 was made for the relief of R.S.A. members and their families in England. The money is to be utilised over a six-monthly period in the sending of parcels of foodstuffs to urgent cases in England, of which advice has been received. At the end of the six-monthly period the position is to be reviewed.
Mrs. A. K. Drew has returned from a holiday spent at Paraparaumu. Mrs. J. H. Harris is home after spending a holiday at Foxton Beach.
