SECOND-GRADE CRICKET

With the championship nearly completed it is fitting that a review be taken of the second grade. With ten teams engaged this has been the best season for many years. The calibre of the players, in a number of cases, has been high, with the consequent result that ail five representative games have been won. At Easter a iwo-day match will be played here against Waikato, which should be a good test for our representatives. The team to practice will be announced, in all probability, next week. With four games to play before the second grade championship is officially . closed, the position of the teams up to and including last Saturday, are:— Tech. Old Boys 33 points, Wanganui A 32, Railway 31, College B 21, College A 19, Technical A 19, Marist 12, P. and T. 7 Tech. B 7, Wanganui B 4. The three leading teams have each had a loss, but Wanganui A and Railway drew in the first round, and Tech. Old Boys have scored the most outright wins to enable them deservedly to keep ahead on points. • • . . Union Head-of-the-River Reprs. Pigeon Clock to Time Swimmers Through the courtesy of the president of the Wanganui Pigeon Racing I Club (Mr. Willacy) the Central Swimming Club has been able to get the use of their timing clock for the bridge-to-bridge race to-day. Used for the bird races this clock stamps individual times as contestants cross the line. Thus all times can be taken on the one clock, eliminating the use, of many stop watches in the hands of numerous officials.
