The Reger work has only once been played in this country, in 1936, by a young Viennese organist, Friedrich Mihatsch. He tackled it as a “dare,” because his colleagues said that it was unplayable. Although it wa s published in 1904, no performance was attempted for over 30 years. German! himself never saw the score until his visit to London last November, when he told the Organ Music Society that he would “like to have a go at it.” He will play it at St. Luke's, Chelsea.
