COAL STOCKS LOW SPECIAL TRAINS CUT OUT
Wellington, March 6. No race trains are to be run by the Railways Department to the Trenthain meeting on Saturday. The coal position in the North Island is, at the moment, regarded as precarious, although for the greater part of the holiday period it was much more satisfactory than last year. It u'as ascertained yesterday that all special trains are being cut out at present, as this is the peak period for goods traffic, which makes heavy demands on the small available stocks of fuel.
