AWAPUNI TRIAIS
LANGUE D’OR AND BROIEFIELD PERFORM WELL Langue d’Or and Broiefield are to race at Opaki on Saturday and a gallop over nearly a mile and a quarter by them on the plough was one of the highlights at Awapuni yesterday morning. Langue d’Or was ridden by C. Eley and Broiefield by V. J. Sellars and the time was a fraction better than 15 to the furlong to the three from which peg they were home well in 41 to complete in 1. 51 3-5. They look to be particularly well. A. G. Waddell will ride Langue d’Or at Masterton and Sellars will ride Broiefield. Another interesting gallop was that of Yasda (Sellars) and Voltai (A. Eowness) over seven. They were together all the way and did the last
three in 41 to complete in I.33—time they could have improved upon. W. J. Broughton is to ride Yasda at Opaki. Imperial(D. Collins) worked once round by himself and was home brilliantly in better than 39 after having travelled under a good hold to the three. Rockanui from the same stable worked quietly once round and was timed to caver the last half mile in 55. Theiolyn (S.Waddell) was kept to even time once round. Gay Stroller (S. Waddell) had Roto Parer? (A. Waddell) a s a companion over a round and was home easily in 43. On the course proper Flying Orders (S. Waddell) was timed to cover the last five of six in 1.8 2-5, the last three in 41 1-5. A. Midwood has been engaged for Village Squire at Opaki and W. L. Aitken, who will be at Hawera, will ride Broilyn, My Way, Theocritus Blanket and Goody Two Shoes.
