WANGANUI HAS TWO WINS AND TWO SECONDS
AT AIR PAGEANT
(P.A.) New Plymouth, Feb. 23. In line sunny weather which made for perfect flying conditions, almost 8000 persons saw the North Island air pageant—the first aerial display of the Royal New Zealand Aero Club since before the war—which was staged at the New Plymouth airport on Saturday.
Aircraft from almost every club in New Zealand, besides seven machines of lhe R.N.Z.A.F., contributed to thr flying spectacle, which was one of the finest ever seen in Taranaki.
The official opening was perfoimed in the afternoon by the Mayor of New Plymouth, Mr. E. R. C. Gilmour, in the presence of the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Industries, Messrs Nash and Sullivan, who landed at New Plymouth to refuel during a flight to Auckland. Results of flying events wore:— Blcdisloe Trophy: North Island elimination contest for airmanship, navigation and landing.—A. E. Milne (Wanganui Aero Club), 1; S. Bates (New Plymouth), 2. Taranaki Herald Cup: Navigation competition.- J. G. Pettigrew (Wanganui), 1; F. M. Haworth (Nelson), 2. Cory Wright navigation competition for club trained pilots.-W. T.
