TENDERS. MILLING TIMBER FOR SALE BY PUBLIC TENDER. State Forest Service. PALMERSTON NORTH. is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling timber will be received at the office of the State Forest Service, Palmerston North, until 9 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday. March 19, 1947. WELLINGTON CONSERVANCY, Wellington Land District. All the milling timber on that piece of land known as Sawmill Area No. 54 containing 102 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks XII and XVI, Manganui Survey District, and Blocks IX and XIII, Ruapehu Survey District and being part of Provisional State Forest No. 67, about three miles from Horopito Railway Station. The total estimated .quantity in cubic feet is 60,000 or in board feet 383,000 made up as follows:Species Cubic ft. Board ft. Rimu 52,100 335,000 Miro 2.100 12,000 Matai 500 3,000 Kahikatea 2,100 13,000 Totara .... 3,200 20,000 60,000 383,000 UPSET PRICE: The upset price is £685 but the Commissioner of State Forests reserves the right to make certain additional charges and to limit the price at which certain logs obtained from the area may be sold by the successful tenderer as provided hereinafter. Should the successful tende.ee sell any logs obtained from the area the price or prices or the equivalent of the price or prici s received by him from the sale of such logs (hereinafter referred to as the sale price) shall not except in the case of first grade peeler logs sold to plywood manufacturers exceed the following prices free on rail at Horopito (hereinafter referred to as the basic log prices) or equivalent prices at other railage or selling points and in re. sped to the sale of first grade peeler logs to plywood manufacturers he shall be required to pay to the Conservator of Forests additional charges that is to say 50 per cent, of the difference between the sale price and the basic log prices or equivalent prices at other railage or selling points.. In addition to the above quantities of timber beeches species on the area —red beech mountain beech cross (Nothofagus fusca x cliffortioides) amounting to approximatciy 50,000 superficial feet will be available to the successful tenderer at the price set out below:— The basic log prices are as follows: Species Price per Price per Cubic It. 100 superficial.ft. The successful tenderer will be required to furnish four-weekly state, ments signed by him or on his .behalf showing the measurements of all logs obtained from the area and showing the prices of all such logs so.d and the names of the purchasers of same The Conservator shall at all times have the right to inspect ad books of account of the successful tenderer dealing with the sales of logs and to take such extracts or copies thereof as he may think lit. Time for Removal of Timber: IS months. TERMS OF PAYMENT: A marked cheque for £l4O together with £1 Is licence fee must accompany the tender and the balance of the purchase money is to be paid in six equal monthly instalments the first of which shall be paid on the 20th day of the month after date of sale. If the business of the successful tenderer includes the sale of legs or if the successful tenderer sells any logs obtained from the area he shall bn demand by the Conservator of Forests forthwith make an additional deposit of £5O or such smaller sum as may be acceptable to the Conservator as security against the additional charges to be made. Any additional charges assessed as hereinbefore mentioned shall be payable on the 20th day of the month immediately following the notice of the claim for same in writing by the Cm. servator of Forests and shall be additional to the six equal monthly instalments referred to above. IMPORTANT NOTE: The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted. All tenders submitted must be exclusive of any additional charges which may be pavab'e.
